Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints with common symptoms such as pain and inflammation of the joints. Pain occurs due to damage to body tissue or potential damage. Complaints of pain in RA are generally treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). However, the challenge in the use of NSAIDs is the irrational use of drugs. Irrational use of NSAIDs can cause inefficient and ineffective treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study of the rationality of the use of NSAIDs in RA patients. This study was conducted to determine the level of rationality at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital in 2020-2023. The rationality study starts from the correct diagnosis, correct indication of the disease, correct drug, correct dose, correct route of administration and correct interval in non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) so that they do not cause side effects for patients. This study is a qualitative descriptive observational study using a cross-sectional design. The sample used is retrospective data obtained from patient medical records using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the analysis were carried out on 100 patient medical record data, the data was analyzed for rationality using the 6T method. The results of the analysis were that the correct diagnosis was 100.00%, the correct indication was 100.00%, the correct drug was 85.00%, the correct dose was 100.00%, the correct interval was 100.00%, and the correct route was 96.00%.
